Eagles Ground Rockets

Through the first four games of the season, the only thing that has slowed down the Seneca Valley offense has been themselves. This was defiantly the case Friday night vs. the Richard Montgomery Rockets as the Eagles committed 14 penalties for 155 yards. Six of the penalties resulted in drives being stalled or ended. Despite the numerous penalties, the Eagles were still able to rack up almost 400 yards of total offense while the defense held the Rockets to only 150 yards total offense (half of which came on one play) en route to a 38-13 victory on homecoming night.
Offensively the Eagles were again led by RB Jamaal Martin who rushed for 194 yards on 29 carries while also scoring 2 touchdowns and converting 3 two-point conversions. Martin’s hard running produced 10 Seneca Valley first downs. QB George Lerch produced 133 yards through the air on 9 of 15 passing with 2 touchdowns. Lerch also had a 22 yard touchdown run to seal the victory.
Defensively the Eagles continued to make big improvements as they produced a near flawless game. A swarming front line led by NT Taiqoun Hill put constant pressure on the RM QB while holding the RM run game to only 29 yards total. The Eagles pass defense continued to impress as they picked off 3 passes, giving them a total of 13 on the season.
The Eagles take on the winless Wheaton Knights this Friday night, October 12th, at Wheaton High School @ 6:30pm.
