Running back Shawn Perry has been the key to the Seneca Valley offense the last two years and with every team in the county knowing this, very few could still stop him. Perry wrapped up his Seneca Valley career with a disappointing loss but he did obtain one thing from that game. With 154 yards rushing in his last high school game, Perry finished with 3,239 career rushing yards. That total officially broke Seneca great Bryan Blessing’s (1989-1992) career mark of 3,199 yards. A fitting accomplishment to a stellar career for Perry, who began his varsity career backing up the superb RB Quinton Cosby (2001-2004) his tenth grade year. The next two years the offense revolved around Perry as he averaged almost 160 yards rushing per game. Perry also obtained the career mark for rushing touchdowns earlier in the season when he scored his 41st to break another mark of Blessing’s. Replacing Perry will be an extremely difficult task for the offense next year but it will be an even bigger task to replace the intensity and leadership he brought to the team each and every game.
