Senior Wide Receiver Chris Gee will be continuing his high school career at the Blue Ridge Preparatory School in Virginia for the 2008-2009 school year. Gee who is listed academically as a junior would turn 19 just days before the state cutoff date, making him ineligible to return to participate in sports at Seneca Valley. With college athletic aspirations in both football and basketball, Gee along with the help of both the football and basketball coaching staff at Seneca decided that a move to a preparatory school would be in his best interest. Blue Ridge has become that place as they have accepted him and given him the necessary financial support to attend the school.
Chris has overcome some extremely difficult situations to get to this point. His story was chronicled in a Washington Post article last winter, in which he left an abusive home, spent time in a homeless shelter & group homes, until finally finding a safe environment at Seneca Valley. This past year Chris led the Seneca Valley football team in touchdown receptions and was also the second leading scorer on the basketball team. Chris has also excelled academically during this period.
With his hard work and determination, Chris has overcome some very difficult situations leaving little doubt that there is no challenge that he won't be able to beat in the future. We wish Chris the absolute best as he makes his mark on the football field and the basketball court at Blue Ridge Prep on his way to a college education. He will be greatly missed at Seneca Valley.
